Privacy Policy
StudyOnTheFly is an independent, ad-free study app operated by Sumengen Bilgisayar ve Turizm Ltd. Şti. ("we"). This policy describes what we collect, why, and your choices. The short version: the app works fully without an account and stores progress only on your device. If a parent creates an account, we additionally store the parent's email address and the learner's study progress so it can be backed up and synced across devices. We collect nothing else, show no ads, and never sell or share data.
Using the app without an account
No account is required. Without one, all your study data — progress, settings, and your display nickname — stays on your device: in the app's own storage in our mobile apps, and in your browser's local storage on the web. It is never sent to us.
One exception, and you can switch it off: to find out which questions are too hard, too easy, or badly written, the app sends anonymous answer statistics — which question, which option was chosen, whether it was right, and roughly how long it took. These are sent as a batch at the end of a practice session. They contain no name, no email, no account, no device or browser identifier, and no IP address, and they are stored with no connection to you or to any account, including when you are signed in. We use them only to measure how difficult each question is and to find questions with mistakes in them. We never sell or share them.
Because these statistics contain nothing that identifies you, we cannot look them up or delete them on request — that is precisely why they are safe. If you would rather not contribute them, turn off Settings → Help improve the questions, and nothing is sent.
Accounts are for parents
Backup & sync is designed for a parent or legal guardian to set up with their own Google or Apple account. We ask children not to create accounts themselves. By signing in, the parent consents to the data practices described here on behalf of their child.
What we collect with an account
- Parent's email address and the stable account identifier provided by the sign-in method you use — Sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple. We never see or store your Google or Apple password. If you choose to hide your email with Sign in with Apple, we only receive the relay address Apple issues.
- Study progress: practice results, ability estimates, streaks, badges, settings, and the learner's display nickname (which may be any name you choose — a first name or initials is plenty).
That is the complete list of what we store with an account. The anonymous answer statistics described above are separate: they are not part of your account and are not linked to it. We do not collect the child's name (beyond the nickname you choose), birthdate, contact details, location, or photos. We show no ads and use no ad network, personalised tracker, or profiling tool.
Two third-party services run on our websites, and neither identifies you:
- Cloudflare traffic measurement. Our sites are served through Cloudflare, whose cookieless, aggregate analytics records technical data such as page views and page load time. It sets no cookie, assigns your device no identifier, does not track you across sites, and gives us no per-person report — only totals.
- Sign in with Google / Apple. The provider's sign-in component loads only when you choose to sign in, and at that point the provider processes data under its own privacy policy. If you do not sign in, no account data exists.
Beyond those we use no third-party analytics or tracking tools. The anonymous answer statistics described above are processed on our own infrastructure and are never shared with any third party.
How we use it
Solely to operate backup & sync: your progress is stored on our servers (hosted on Cloudflare) so it can be restored on other devices where you sign in. We may use the parent's email to respond to support requests or send essential account notices. No marketing email without separate, explicit opt-in.
Deleting your data
In the app: Settings → Profile → Delete account removes the account and all synced progress from our servers immediately and permanently. You can also email [email protected] from the account's email address and we will delete it for you.
Children's privacy
Our learners are typically 10–15 years old, and some of our study apps are made for an audience under 13. The answer statistics described above carry nothing that identifies a person — no name, no email, no account, no device identifier — so nothing about a child is collected by them, and Settings → Help improve the questions switches them off on any app at any time.
We designed accounts to be parent-held precisely so that a parent provides any personal information (their own email) and consents to the processing of the child's study progress. If you believe a child has created an account without parental consent, contact us and we will delete it.
Legal bases and your rights (GDPR / KVKK)
For users in the EU/EEA and Türkiye, we process account data on the basis of consent and contract performance (providing the sync service). You may request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of your data at any time via the email above.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will note it here and, for account holders, notify the parent's email before the change takes effect.
